Breanna Bassett

Bree holds credentials in both mild/moderate and moderate/severe special education. She also has a Master’s degree in Special Education. Bree has been with COAST since 2019. Prior to becoming a part of the COAST Family, she taught in a mod/severe ASD class in a middle school, and at a local nonpublic school where she built upon her passion in managing difficult behaviors and teaching meaningful life skills to her students. Teaching Transition is truly my passion and what better place to teach than at COAST! Outside of COAST, Bree has a husband serving in the US Military, two dogs, and two cats. Jovana Wiggins
This academic year marks my third year as an Education Specialist. I've previously taught in extensive support needs classrooms, serving students from transitional kindergarten (TK) through 8th grade. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in a psychiatric facility supporting individuals with mental health and substance abuse challenges.
Before earning my teaching credential, I spent five years as an instructional assistant in special education. During that time, I developed a strong passion for creating inclusive, supportive environments where all students feel valued and empowered to succeed.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master's degree in Special Education. I also bring a personal perspective to my work as a parent of four children. My son was diagnosed with autism and ADHD and has made noticeable strides with his IEP and team. My daughter was born with a congenital heart defect, giving me a firsthand understanding of the unique challenges faced by students with both educational and medical needs.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family—whether we're at the park, swimming, or playing sports together. We also have a sweet black cat named Raven who brings a lot of joy to our home. As a lover of art and nature, I love to bring creativity to the classroom!
I'm proud to be part of the Coast Academy team and look forward to supporting students in reaching their goals—both in our program and throughout their lives.
